What is a goldendoodle? F1? F1b?

Goldendoodles are 50% golden retriever and 50% poodle - this mating is considered F1. When mated with a mini poodle, the offspring are "mini" or "medium". F1b offspring is the product of a F1 goldendoodle mated with a mini poodle. 

Are goldendoodles non-shedding?

Although no guarantees are made, due to the poodle genes, goldendoodles do exhibit low to no shedding. That being said, goldendoodles do require brushing and grooming. 

Are goldendoodles easy to train?

Are they a good family dog?

Yes and Yes! Goldendoodles are very quick learners and aim to please their owners. They are amazing family pets... especially Sweet Creek Doodles - our young daughters play and handle the puppies throughout the timeframe they are with us!

What is the temperament of goldendoodles?

Goldendoodles are generally known for their friendly, sociable, and outgoing nature. They are great family pets, as they tend to get along well with children and other animals. However, individual temperament can vary depending on genetics and upbringing.

How big do goldendoodles get?

The size of a Goldendoodle can vary depending on the size of the Poodle parent used in the breeding. They can range from mini (around 15-30 pounds) to medium (30-45 pounds) to large (45-100 pounds). Puppies have a high growth rate during their first year. They can gain up to 10% of their body weight each week.​

Are goldendoodles good therapy dogs?

Goldendoodles are known for their friendly and social nature. They are generally great with children, other pets, and strangers, making them popular as family pets and therapy dogs. Often used as therapy dogs, service dogs, and emotional support animals due to their friendly and gentle nature. Their intelligence and trainability make them well-suited for these roles.

Are goldendoodles a new breed?

Goldendoodles originated the United States in the 1990s. They were bred to combine the friendly nature of golden retrievers with the hypoallergenic and non-shedding qualities of poodles​

How do you socialize puppies?

​

Puppies go through a critical socialization period between 3 and 14 weeks of age. This is a crucial time for them to learn and adapt to their environment, experiences, and social interactions. We spend weeks 3 through 8 that the puppies are with our family focusing on developing their senses providing opportunities to be introduced to signs, smells, environments, and sounds that they may encounter when they leave our four walls. 

What's it like to have a puppy?

Puppies are highly adaptable. They can learn new commands and tricks quickly. Their brains are like sponges, absorbing information and experiences at a rapid rate. Puppies have a strong instinct for play. Play behavior is essential for their physical and mental development. It helps them learn social skills, coordination, and bite inhibition.
